In March, April, and May members of the Rotary Club of Folsom put in over 300 man hours building the new Castle Park. The playground consists of two separate play areas: a "Tots Lot" for children 2–5 years old and a play area for children 5–12 years old. Our club worked mainly on the Tots Lot. The new playground replaces the old one built by community volunteers in 1996, including many Rotarians. The Rotary Club of Folsom awarded its 2026 Teacher Grants to Folsom teachers during the club’s March 26 meeting. Teachers are requested to submit an application for a grant of up to $500 to support materials, equipment, and innovative learning materials to support a project in their classroom. On Monday, November 11, members of the Rotary Clubs of Folsom, Historic Folsom, and Folsom Lake marched in the Folsom "Wayne Spence" Veterans Day Parade. The Interact Clubs of Folsom High School and Vista Del Lago High School marched with them and handed out candy to children along the route. The theme of the Rotary float this year was MASH (from the TV show) and the members of the clubs were dressed appropriately. For Folsom’s 12th Annual Community Service Day, our club rolled up our sleeves and tackled not one, but two projects. At the Granite School, we planted trees and bushes, installed a drip system, and spread mulch to create a welcoming new space. At Kids Play Park (Castle Park), we helped finish demolition work to make way for the exciting rebuild of this beloved community treasure.   To view more photos, go to Community Service Day. |
On September 18, our evening meeting was replaced by the 4th Annual Public Safety Awards Luncheon, where we proudly recognized the outstanding men and women of the Folsom Police Department and Folsom Fire Department who exemplify extraordinary dedication to serving our community. This year, eight individuals were honored for their professionalism, service, and commitment to keeping Folsom safe. Folsom Police Department: • Officer of the Year – Jon-Mikkal Personius • Supervisors of the Year – Sgt. Brian Mendenhall and Sgt. Mike Grueneberg • Dispatcher of the Year – Alyx Eichhorn • Professional Staff of the Year – Laura DeHaan Folsom Fire Department: • Firefighter/Paramedic of the Year – Austin Cia • Supervisor of the Year – Battalion Chief Ben Signor • Professional Staff of the Year – Christina Thongthep Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees!

The first dictionary distribution to third graders this year was held at Carl Sundahl School on Monday, March 3. On hand to distribute the dictionaries were Brent Sundahl, Len Hundshamer, Cathy Hundshamer, Charlie Grows, John Abernethy, Justin Raithel, Bill Hutto, Rich Pepin, Frank Woods, and Connie and Chuck Thompson (members of Historic Folsom Rotary Club). Carl Sundahl was a prominent dentist in Folsom and a Past President of the Rotary Club of Folsom.  In the front is Rich Pepin. On Saturday, February 22, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Folsom and Rotary Club of Historic Folsom, poured footings for a gazebo at the Lake Natoma Nursery and Gardens at Black Miners Bar. On Thursday, February 27, 2025, 48 community business leaders met with 63 juniors from Folsom High School and Vista Del Lago High School at the 30th Annual Dave West Partnerships for Tomorrow Leadership Conference held at Lakeside Church. This conference unites high school students with business and community leaders representing the City of Folsom to discuss leadership skills and ethical choices in the work place, in schools, and in the local and global community.  Students and business leaders meet over continental breakfast.  Group discussion between students, mentors, and facilitators. |
Santa's Christmas Cottage in Historic Folsom, right next to the ice rink, is all done and ready for Santa Claus. Rotarian John Messner spent countless hours pre-building the cottage in his garage. He built panels for the floor and walls and built roof sections. The building can be taken down and stored for next year. A volunteer crew from all three Rotary Clubs put the pre-built pieces together over 2 days. A large crane lifted the humongous roof structures and put them in place on the second day. On Saturday, October 19, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Folsom, the Rotary Club of Historic Folsom, and the Rotary Club of Folsom Lake completed the greenhouse at the Lake Natoma Nursery and Gardens at Black Miners Bar.  |
